What is it?
A manuscript critique is a great diagnostic tool. Maybe you've done all you can on your book but you feel it isn't quite right; or you're stuck in your writing and not sure how to finish; or maybe you want to do some revision on your own first but you need some guidance. Whatever your situation, if you're not ready for editing but you need some feedback on your book, a manuscript critique is the way to go.
How does it work?
A manuscript critique works like the first stage of a developmental edit; I read through your manuscript and send you a detailed list describing the strengths and weaknesses of your book. I cover things like plot points, characters, pacing, tension, voice, setting, dialogue, and obvious problems with story concept or themes. I also make notes directly into your manuscript using the MS Word Comments feature to show you exactly where you might implement some of the suggested changes.
What does it cost? How long does it take?
The rate for this service is a flat fee of $300 up to 80,000 words, $350 for manuscripts above 80,000 words.
Turnaround time is anywhere from 1–3 weeks depending on your word count.
