What marketing materials?
Now that your manuscript is polished, it's time to send it out into the world. Whether you're going the traditional publishing route or you plan to self-publish, that means you'll need some marketing materials.
If you're sending your book to an agent or publisher, you need a query letter and synopsis (see Author Resources for more info). Writing a stellar query letter is essential to getting an agent's attention, and in the publishing world there are very strict guidelines about what makes a good query letter.
If you're going the self-publishing route, you'll be building your author platform (see Author Resources for more info). This means writing content for your book blurb, author website, book ads, guest blogs, etc.
Whether you're trying to wow an agent or connect with your target readership, I'd love to help you get your marketing materials in great shape.
How does it work?
The first step in writing and refining great marketing materials is to learn how to stand out from other competing voices in the publishing industry. The key is to work within the established guidelines and expectations so that industry experts and readers trust you as a knowledgeable and confident professional author. For example, did you know there's a basic formula for writing a query letter? Do you know how to write a book blurb that's just right for your target readership? What's the difference between a query letter and synopsis, and do you really need both? Introducing you to the ins and outs of these industry norms is my first priority in helping you develop strong marketing materials.
